Community Education
Do you want to find a new hobby, meet people with the same interests, or just learn while having fun? If your answer is “Yes,” our community education classes are for you! These classes are offered throughout the district at various locations:
- BHC Outreach Center in East Moline
- BHC Quad-Cities Campus in Moline
- BHC Adult Learning Center in Rock Island
- BHC Community Education Center in Kewanee
- Local libraries, restaurants and community centers
Black Hawk College is proud of the outstanding learning and enrichment program opportunities that are offered by the Professional and Continuing Education Department. PaCE instructors are a diverse group of professionals who work hard to develop and provide a wide variety of broad-based and interesting programs for our community. If you have a hobby or interest that is not listed, please call the Professional and Continuing Education Department and suggest that it be included in the next scheduled session.

Comm University
CommUniversity offers classes in diverse areas such arts/humanities, personal enrichment, regional studies, and theology/spirituality. Since 1979, thousands of students have participated in this annual community program. The program is dedicated to offering this higher learning opportunity to anyone 18 and older.
Youth Programs
Meet new friends, explore your interests and develop your talents with our youth programs!
Our classes and summer camps invite creativity and are designed to inspire you to learn more about the arts, fashion, languages, science/math and technology.
Youth Programs
- SAT Exam Preparation
Classes to help you review test-taking tips and exam contents. - Babysitting Clinic (ages 11-16)
Middle schoolers who meet eligible requirements can spend a week in July learning childcare basics at the Quad-Cities Campus. - Youth Summer Camps (for 3rd-5th graders) and Youth Classes
Invite creativity and be inspired to learn more about topics like the arts, fashion, languages and STEM. - College for Kids
College For Kids
College for Kids (CFK) is a one-week enrichment program that offers students a chance to explore their interests and learn something new in a collaborative environment. Students will experience fun, hands-on learning beyond their ordinary school environment. CFK’s interactive classes include topics such as art, theater, language, math, technology, science, and social studies.
PaCE has proudly offered College for Kids for over 40 years! Our goal is to develop and expand a student’s interest, stimulate creativity, and provide a unique learning experience.

Eligibility
The program is designed for students who are entering 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grades for the upcoming school year. Initial eligibility is determined by meeting at least one of the following criteria:
The most recent achievement score at the 90th percentile or above on one of the following:
Reading total
-or- Math total
-or- Social Studies
-or- Science
-or- The most recent ability test score at the 90th percentile or above.
Once a student qualifies and attends College for Kids, they are eligible through 9th grade.
